Emmett Skilton

Director / Actor

Emmett is an award-winning New Zealand actor and director with a deep passion for grounded performances, authentic character relationships, and striking visual storytelling. He has directed over 150 episodes of Shortland Street for TVNZ, the critically acclaimed series' Auckward Love and Millennial Jenny, and most recently Three’s Crackhead, the raw and fearless dark comedy created by Holly Shervey. The series pairs emotionally real performances with moments of unexpected levity, offering an honest look at a woman on the edge of collapse.
With a career as an actor — known for lead roles in TV3’s The Almighty Johnsons, AMC’s The Making of the Mob, NBC’s Young Rock and most recently guest roles in feature films A Mistake and M3GAN 2.0 — Emmett draws on a wealth of performance experience to guide actors toward bold, truthful work that connects deeply with audiences, while bringing emotional clarity and a collaborative approach to every project.
Emmett joins the Everyday Wellbeing for Producers: What Works and What’s Next panel discussion at the 30th Spada Conference.
