Founder - Tech Futures Lab / The Mind Lab (Unitec)

Frances is the founder of Tech Futures Lab and the Founder and The Mind Lab by Unitec. The Mind Lab is a private-public partnership with Unitec delivering education programmes in digital and collaborative technologies. Tech Futures Lab is a specialist lab for business people to develop skills and knowledge in emerging technologies including Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, Cybersecurity, Robotics and Business Disruption. Frances works in New Zealand and internationally on the development of innovation initiatives that develops business capability and prepares organisations for success through the adoption or development of disruptive practices.

Frances has been a leader in the education of future technologies, digital impact and disruption for over two decades. She has a Master of Education Management from the University of Melbourne and an alumna from Singularity University in the Silicon Valley.

 In 2015 she was awarded the NZ Westpac Woman of Influence – Innovation, and the Next Magazine Woman of the Year – Education. In 2015 Idealog Magazine rated her as one of the top 10 most influential women in New Zealand. This year Frances was named as one of the top 50 EdTech Educators in the world as well as been recognised as a New Zealand Blake Leader.

Frances sits on the board of Callaghan Innovation, KEA (World Class New Zealander’s Network) and Talentnomics (Washington DC).
