NETWORKING EVENT - MIPTV 2008

DIGITAL BROADCASTING: REVIEW OF REGULATION SUBMISSION
SPADA is completing its submission on the Digital Broadcasting Review of Regulation, which is being undertaken by the Ministry of Culture and Heritage and the Ministry for Economic Development.  The review covers all areas affecting broadcasting: Regulatory Framework: Cross-Value Chain; Content; Distribution and Network, and potentially has major implications for the future of broadcast infrastructure.  Submissions are due on Friday 4 April: SPADA’s submission will be available on its website shortly thereafter.


IS NZ NEXT IN LINE FOR A PRODUCER INCENTIVE SCHEME?
SPADA has been in discussion with relevant Ministers regarding the benefits of introducing a NZ equivalent of the Australian producer offset.  SPADA has had positive reactions to the proposal for a producer incentive and is cautiously optimistic there will be a positive outcome for domestic producers.  We will keep you informed of any new developments.


CALL FOR CONTENT FOR SHORT FILM SERIES
MTS is expanding the duration of its short film series ITI POUNAMU from a half-hour to one-hour.  The format for the programme includes: short film screenings, interviews with local filmmakers; a “What’s On At the Movies?”, film/festival calendar, guest reviews of current films etc.

CAPABILITY AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FUND

Round Three of Film Auckland’s Capability Development Programme is underway.  This is an excellent opportunity to upskill either yourself or your business.  Film Auckland considers everything from creative professional development to infrastructure, to technical support and the development of business knowledge, and funds up to half of the project’s budget.

Media7 - produced by Top Shelf Productions - is TVNZ’s new weekly media show screening on TVNZ 7 Wednesdays from 2 April.  Host Russell Brown and a team of panelists chew through the week's media news in front of a live audience.

Filmed on Tuesday nights at Auckland 's Classic Comedy Club, members of the media and screen industry are invited to form the audience for the show throughout the series.  If you would like to register to be part of the audience please email Jodie Molloy at jodie@top-shelf.co.nz.


PORTABLE FILM FESTIVAL - AUCKLAND
Online Media Workshop: Sat 12 & Sun 13 April

New media will be in focus in Auckland this month, with Ezra Cooperstein of US-based Current TV, the world’s first fully integrated web and TV platform, in town to share his expertise about how online delivery is shaping the next generation in user-generated content and experience.

This is an opportunity for local writers, producers and directors to learn more about the opportunity that the online channel represents.  

Cooperstein is being brought to New Zealand by The Portable Film Festival®, with the support of New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE).  He will work with emerging local film writers, producers and directors as part of The Portable Screen Academy, an online media workshop on 12-13 April; and give a presentation on 14 April.

HOMEGROWN SUBMISSIONS NOW OPEN

The NZFC is calling for tenders for the role of Executive Producers for project selection, development and management of the Short Film Fund. EXECUTIVE PRODUCER/MARKETING ROLE - VIETNAM D2K - a TVC production company based in Vietnam - is looking for an experienced TVC Executive Producer/Marketing person to market the film company to agencies in Ho Chi Minh City ( Saigon ).  D2K is also developing TV and film divisions.

This vacancy has been passed on to SPADA by Tristan Strange.
