SPADA Welcomes 2018 Executive02 November 2017
At SPADA's Annual General Meeting on Tuesday the 31st of October 2017 its new Executive was announced. SPADA welcomed a high calibre of nominees this year, and the elected Executive and Co-Presidency reflects that depth and breadth of expertise across the screen sector.
This year SPADA welcomed Co-Presidents to head up the organisation: Managing Director of Libertine Pictures Richard Fletcher, and Managing Director of Fulcrum Media Finance, Sharon Menzies. As a specialist film financing company, Fulcrum Media Finance is at the forefront of international market changes. Over the past ten years Fulcrum has assisted in financing over 200 independent productions of all budget levels (film, television, documentary) in New Zealand, Australia and the United Kingdom. Menzies is extremely supportive of a strong and vibrant screen production industry in New Zealand, and is focused on using her knowledge and experience gained as Managing Director of Fulcrum Media Finance to assist SPADA, through support and guidance, in leading reform.
Richard Fletcher returns to the SPADA Executive having previously served two terms as SPADA President (2007 to 2009 and 2014) during which period Richard played an integral role in the implementation of key screen industry policy and terms of trade negotiations. As a producer and Managing Director of Libertine Pictures, Richard has breadth of expertise across the film and television business as well as being familiar with strategic planning and government policy in the independent screen production sector. A sector that is currently rapidly evolving and enduring challenging economic conditions both locally and internationally. Fletcher firmly believes the industry needs its representative body, SPADA, to be strong, focused and well managed in order to provide leadership which is critical to the continuing success and expansion of the industry.
