New SPADA CEO announced


The Screen Production and Development Association, New Zealand's largest film and television industry association, announced the appointment of their new Chief Executive today. Penelope Borland, currently manager of Arts Advocacy and Communications at Creative NZ will takeover the position from the 22nd of September.

Based in Wellington, Ms. Borland has had a wide range of senior roles in both the public and private sector. During her time at Creative NZ she has been involved in the establishment of high-level advocacy and communication programmes and is widely respected by the arts, political and business communities. She also has a background in intellectual property law, television journalism and corporate public affairs.

"The last two years have been a period of unprecedented activity and attention for the New Zealand Screen Production industry" says Nicole Hoey, president of SPADA. "Penelope's connections with senior government and her previous leadership roles in a wide variety of business and creative organisations will bring new strength and vision to SPADA at what we see as a critical time for both us and the industry in general. We are delighted that she has accepted the role and very positive about the future of SPADA under her leadership.

SPADA represents New Zealand's film and television producers and senior industry professionals. It has over 350 members and works to represent and strengthen the New Zealand independent screen industry on both a local and international level.
