What SPADA Can Do For You
SPADA's strength lies in its membership. SPADA's network of key independent screen industry practitioners in New Zealand - as well as its relationship with other industry organisations.

SPADA's position as a key industry lobbying organisation has enabled it to develop a significant profile with Government and key decision makers.

This ensures SPADA members have a strong voice for influencing and advocating for a robust and vital independent screen production industry.

Membership Categories
SPADA members include producers, directors, production companies and allied craft professionals working in film, television, TVC, video, post-production, animation and interactive media; lawyers and accountants, completion guarantors, and industry suppliers.

There are four membership categories:

Individual Membership
For producers, directors and production companies of the screen production industry with up to two full-time employees.
$250 (inc GST)

Production Company Membership
For production companies with more than two full time employees - membership can be extended to up to six full time employees.
$500 (inc GST)

Youth/Student Membership*
For emerging producers under 25 years of age, and full time students. Youth/Student members do not have voting rights, but are subject to all other membership services.
$75 (inc GST)

Associate Membership*
For individuals who are not producers, directors or involved in allied crafts of the screen production industry, but who support the general aims and objectives of SPADA.
$300 (inc GST)

*Does not include a free hard copy of The Blue Book: Guidelines to the Engagement of Crew


Membership Obligations

Production Levies
SPADA membership commits producers/production companies to the payment of levies on all productions where they are responsible for budgets.

There is an option of paying a flat dollar rate or a set percentage of the total production budget.

Percentage levies equate to approximately 0.1 to 0.2% (of 1%) of the total budget of projects. EG: total production budget ($) x 0.001 to 0.002


Code of Best Practice
The Code of Best Practice was developed to reflect and formalise professional standards in the film and television industry. All members of SPADA must adhere to it. View the document.


What Do I Have To Do To Join?
Fill in the Membership Form and fax or mail back to the office.
