DAVID GASCOIGNE

David GascoigneDavid Gascoigne (DCNZM, CBE) is a corporate lawyer and was previously Chair of Partners of the firm Minter Ellison Rudd Watts.  He is still a consultant to that firm.

David is or has been the Chair or a Director of many public and private companies.  At present, he is the Chair of Transpower New Zealand Limited, PSIS Limited and Mitsubishi Motors NZ Limited.

In the arts field, David has, among other things, been the Executive Chair of the New Zealand International Arts Festival, Deputy Chair of what is now known as Creative New Zealand and a Board member of the former National Art Gallery , as well as Te Papa.  He is the Chair of The NBR New Zealand Opera.

In the area of film, David was a founding Board Member of the New Zealand Film Commission and was on the Board for 15 years, the last eight of them as Chair.  He is the Chair of the original Film Fund, established in 2000, and is also the Chair of Film Fund 2, established this year.

Last year David chaired the Rugby World Cup 2011 Bid Advisory Committee.

He was awarded the CBE in 1989 for his services to film and the DCNZM in 2005 for his services to the arts and business.
