SPADA Independent Producer of the Year Award

SPADA introduced the award at conference in 2004. The award is presented to an independent producer who has made a significant contribution in the last year (12 months from conference 2005) towards the growth, development and promotion of the independent screen production industry. One award is presented to a producer, working in any format. The inaugural award was presented to Trevor Haysom, and in 2005 Elizabeth Mitchell received the award.

Entry

Entry to the award is by nomination only. Any working producer is eligible for nomination.
The deadline for receipt of nominations is Monday 30th October.

Judging

The award is judged by the ten members of the SPADA 2005/2006 Executive.

The judges consider the following criteria:

Outstanding contribution as an independent producer during the past calendar year since conference;
Achievement is likely to be, but does not have to be, related to production of outstanding programme(s)/ project(s)/ film(s);

Overall contribution to the industry e.g. mentoring of younger producers/ EPing may be taken into account;

Achievement may involve bringing together particularly innovative, groundbreaking work and/or projects.

Will be able to attend SPADA Conference 2006, the New Zealand Film and Television Industry Conference, from 16-18 November 2006 in Auckland

The award will be presented on Friday 17th November, alongside the SPADA New Filmmaker of the Year Award and the SPADA/Onfilm Industry Champion Award, during the TVNZ Big Conference Dinner.
